Roaring Camp Wedding Photography – Janelle + Michael

One of the things I love is photographing weddings at unique and out-of-the-way places. Recently, I had the chance to photograph Janelle and Michael’s wedding at a unique place called The Roaring Camp Railroads in Felton, California.  Felton is located in Northern California, just north of Santa Cruz. The Roaring Camp Railroads is home to a centuries old Redwood Grove that features a self-guided nature path. The Roaring Camp Railroad ceremonies are held in a stunning Cathedral Grove located on Bear Mountain, which is accessible by a vintage steam train. While at the Cathedral Grove site, Janelle and Michael exchanged their vows underneath ancient, towering redwoods with beautiful streaming light behind them. After the ceremony the guests made their way back down via the train stopping to catch a few quick priceless photos on the way down. Thier guests were treated to an authentic wagon train style dinner with all the fixings, along with an old-fashioned marshmallow roasting party thrown in to boot. Below are few of my favorite shots from Janelle and Michael’s magical day. Enjoy!

Los Willows Wedding Photography – Alejandra + Israel

Los Willows in Fallbrook is well known among Southern California wedding photographers as a premier wedding and event venue. From outdoor ceremonies to corporate events, it is without a doubt a perfect spot for a celebration of any kind. Today I’d like to blog about Alejandra and Israel’s wedding, which I had the pleasure of photographing. The couple’s wedding day began at Los Willow’s Bed and Breakfast Inn, where they had their “first look” in the courtyard, followed by some shots in the French Quarter with the wedding party. Because pictures are very important to Alex and Israel, we spent almost an hour at shooting formals and I couldn’t have asked for better afternoon light.  Dinner was followed by lots of dancing, toasts by close friends and family and more dancing. At the end of the night, everyone lined up for a final sparkles salute, as the bride and groom departed in a classic chauffeured Rolls Royce!

Tivoli Too Wedding Photography – Vanessa + Spencer

What an absolutely perfect wedding day it was at the beautiful Tivoli Too in Laguna Beach. We started the day out early at the Surf and Sand Resort for getting ready shots and some pre-ceremony images on the beach behind the resort.  I took a few pictures of the girls helping Vanessa with the final touches and then stepped outside to the beach with more room for the group shot. I had some fun with the bridal party on the beach with some funny impromptu running shots. We jumped in the limo for a quick drive up to Tivoli Too for the ceremony. The reception started with the introductions, followed by the first dance and then gradually transformed into a full blown party. Overall, the entire day was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed being there! Below are few of my favorite shots from Vanessa and Spencer’s day. Enjoy!

Hakone Gardens Wedding Photography – Destiny + Bill

A warm summer day in Northern California filled with laughter and happiness from beginning to end, marked Destiny and Bill’s wedding.  The day’s events took place at the historic and beautiful Hakone Estate & Gardens, the oldest Asian estate and garden in the Western Hemisphere. Destiny and Bill incorporated several unique touches to their day with things such as releasing a box of butterflies after they said their vows and also having a custom jigsaw puzzle made of their engagement photo. The pieces of the puzzle were then passed out to the guests in order to construct the puzzle throughout the rest of the afternoon. I love the woodsy and tranquil feel of this location. Everyone seemed to be so at ease. The beautiful day wound up with both families on the dance floor.

The Hacienda Tivoli Terrace Wedding Photography – Cailey + Travis

I am so happy to share some images from Cailey and Travis’ wedding from this summer. They were married in the picturesque city of Seal Beach, California at St Anne’s Catholic Church . After the ceremony, we moved on to the beach for some bridal party shots and wrapped up the formals back in Irvine. The reception was held at The Hacienda Tivoli Terrace in Santa Ana, and was a blast. Cailey and Travis lead off the reception with a role call of their bridal party. As they introduced their closest friends they shared some thoughts on how these people have affected their lives. I have to say that I had so much fun doing this wedding and hope to see these guys very soon.

Fullerton Arboretum Wedding Photography – Marissa + Frank

This is coverage from an amazing wedding I had the pleasure of photographing for Marissa and Frank. They have been together since meeting at the University of California, Riverside. The wedding took place at the beautiful Fullerton Arboretum in Fullerton, California. Shooting their wedding was such blast. I mean, how often do you get to photograph a wedding where a genuine old-school break dancing competition breaks out? The reception became a full scale party with the help of ericthedeejay.com and lasted well into the night. I love it when a plan comes together!

Stauffer Chapel Malibu Wedding Photography – Jamie + Ali

Jamie and Ali were married in Malibu overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean at the Stauffer Chapel on the campus of Pepperdine University, one of the most amazing locations in Southern California. With family and friends from all over the country in attendance, the ceremony was a blending of two wonderful cultures. The reception was held at the Hilton in Woodland Hills, California, where we decided to take advantage of a helipad on top of the roof for a once in a lifetime photo shoot. With a little help from Mother Nature, the helipad photos came out great and Jamie and Ali were great sports. Meanwhile, things heated up downstairs in the grand ballroom with a crowd that was ready to party. The dancing continued into the night and it was simply a pleasure documenting their day.

Wiens Family Cellars Wedding Photography – Adrienne + Eric

“Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head” was a hit back in the seventies, but rain is something that doesn’t quite mix well for weddings. Southern California was recently hit with some of the most inclement weather in years and this day was no exception. Fortunately, the beautiful venue of Wiens Family Cellars has an awesome barrel room that made for a perfect plan B for the ceremony. After Adrienne and Eric said their vows the guests made their way to the beautiful ballroom for the reception. While the guests enjoyed an array of the vineyard’s finest wines, we did a twist on the formal shots by incorporating colorful umbrellas. I guess sometimes rain can work to your advantage.

Hotel Maya Wedding Photography – Britton + Tim

Britton and Tim were married next to the colorful décor and stunning views of the Long Beach oceanfront Hotel Maya,  one of the most romantic and eclectic locations in Southern California.  Surrounded by family and friends (many from Texas and the Midwest), the ceremony was touching and very personal.  The remodeled Hotel Maya overlooks the Pacific Ocean and the downtown Long Beach skyline and is ideal for weddings. As the guests danced the night away, the view from the open air terrace made for a perfect backdrop and ending to the evening.

Yosemite Wedding Photography- Nikki + Deo

Deo and Nikki took the term destination wedding to a whole new level by traveling from their home in Butare, Rwanda to beautiful Yosemite National park. Nikki met Deo in Rwanda while working for a small community development project – a cooperatively owned ice cream shop. The wedding ceremony was held in one of the most breath taking places in the world. At over 7000 feet above sea level, Glacier Point is truly awe-inspiring! It was a bit intimidating doing some of the group photos and some of the bride and groom portraits with a phenomenal view of the world famous half dome as the back drop. Nothing beats shooting in Yosemite. It was cool, clear and crisp day for a wonderful couple and their friends.  It was simply a pleasure documenting their day.
